Official Q&A
Why announce Black Myth: Zhong Kui now?
Every August 20th, Game Science shares development progress. As the project just started and there is no live gameplay yet, a CG short was produced to officially announce the new project has entered development.
Why Zhong Kui first? Not a sequel to Wukong?
After the first title landed, we want to explore different experiences and new features, bringing fresh changes while reflecting on past shortcomings. Zhong Kui became a natural choice. Journey to the West won’t end here.
Differences from Black Myth: Wukong?
Both draw from Chinese mythology. It remains a single-player action RPG with a similar business model. You likely won’t play as the Monkey King this time. Specific differences are still under exploration—quality first.
When will it release?
TBD. Follow the official site (gamesci.cn/zhongkui) and official social channels (Bilibili, Douyin, Weibo, Xiaohongshu). Future info will be unified under the “Black Myth” accounts.
Platforms?
PC + mainstream consoles. Final info subject to pre-release notice.
More story or gameplay details?
Hard to say now. The team is enthusiastic to tell new stories and create new fun while keeping it familiar and surprising for fans.
